Frequently asked questions

Plain answers, no jargon. Where a technical detail helps, it sits in a small line at the bottom of the answer — skip it if you don't need it.

The basics

05

What you actually get when you register a name with us.

Is this a real domain name, or a subdomain of someone else's site?+

It is a real domain name. sangeetha.veg.restaurant belongs to you, the same way hello.co.in belongs to its owner and not to whoever runs co.in. You get your own website, your own email, your own certificate and your own ownership record.

Technically: the namespace is listed on the Public Suffix List, the list browsers use to decide where one site ends and another begins.

Will it work everywhere a .com works?+

Yes. Hosting, website builders, WordPress, Shopify, Google Workspace, payment gateways, WhatsApp Business, Maps listings, analytics — all of them treat it as a normal domain, because that is what it is.

Can I use email on it?+

Yes — like you@sangeetha.veg.restaurant. Your provider sets it up exactly as it would for a .com.

Technically: normal MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.

Is my site separate and secure from other names in the same namespace?+

Yes. Another shop's site cannot read your visitors' logins, see your data, or get a certificate covering your name. Each name is walled off from the others.

Technically: PSL listing blocks cookies at the namespace level and prevents wildcard certificates across the namespace.

Can someone look up who owns my name?+

Yes. Your name has its own public ownership record — created date, expiry, status, nameservers — just like any other domain, and we publish it as the registry that runs the namespace.

Technically: WHOIS/RDAP record for the full name, published by us; visible through your registrar too.

Google & being found

04

Short version: nothing bad happens, and reading it is easier.

Will Google rank my site lower because it isn't a .com?+

No. Google has said many times that the ending of a domain doesn't change rankings. What matters is your content, your speed and who links to you.

If another shop in the namespace behaves badly, does it hurt me?+

No. Your reputation, your Search Console property and your safety status are all yours alone. Nothing is shared or pooled.

Can I verify it in Google Search Console?+

Yes — add it as a domain property with a DNS record, exactly like any other domain.

Does a keyword name still matter if most people arrive from search?+

It matters for recognition, not ranking. People scan a QR code, a board, a bill or a WhatsApp message and have one second to read your address. sangeetha.veg.restaurant is three clear words. sangeethavegrestaurant.com is one long blur.

Price, buying & renewals

09

Flat pricing, bought from the registrar you already use.

What does it cost?+

₹999 a year at launch — for every name, in every namespace. The renewal price is the same. No premium tiers, no cheap first year that jumps later.

Where do I buy it?+

From regular domain registrars and their resellers — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, Dynadot and others. We run the registry; they do the selling, billing and support, so you keep the account you already have.

Are some names held back?+

A small number — registry-related names, obvious abuse targets and single letters. Everything else is first come, first served at the flat price.

Can the name be transferred to someone else, or to another registrar?+

Yes, both. You can move it between any of our supporting registrars with the usual auth code and transfer request, and you can sell or hand it over to another person the same way you would any other domain. It behaves like a normal domain because it is one.

Technically: standard EPP transfer with auth code, 60-day post-registration lock, and registrant change through your registrar.

What if I forget to renew?+

The usual safety net: a grace period, then a redemption window where you can still get it back, then it becomes available again. Your registrar sends the reminders.

Do I own the name, or do you?+

You own it. You are the registrant. We only operate the namespace — you can point it anywhere, transfer it, or sell it.

What if someone registers my brand name?+

You can challenge it. We follow the same trademark and bad-faith principles as the rest of the industry, and pretending to be a school, hospital or clinic gets the name suspended.

Will the namespace still be around in ten years?+

It runs on a domain we own, on registry-grade infrastructure, with published policy and proper record keeping. This model is decades old — us.com, uk.com, in.net, africa.com, co.in and school.in all work this way, with millions of names between them.

When can I register?+

We're in pre-launch. Join the waitlist with the name you want and we'll message you on WhatsApp the moment it's live at registrars.
